Just as the name of this tour indicates, Madrid is an art lover’s paradise. Madrid is many things; a city that never sleeps; stylish, open and friendly; a bit formidable, steeped in history and a thriving center for the arts. During our tour we will be visiting all the major museums and a few of the lesser known ones.

The city’s art museums are home to some of the world’s most acclaimed paintings … so whether your taste runs to El Greco, Velazquez or Goya; Picasso, Cézanne or Miró; Dali, Pollock or techno interactive works there is more than enough to keep you smiling. Three of the most important treasure troves are along one of the most venerated streets in the world of art, the Paseo del Arte (the Art Walk) from where the Paseo del Prado runs from Cibeles Fountain to Atocha railway station.

As every aficionado knows, art is about standing in awe before a canvas or sculpture; understanding and appreciating the emotions and message the artist conveys, perhaps reevaluating a long held belief and, above all, about taking your time. Like a good wine, art cannot be rushed.

The start of our discovery begins along Paseo del Prado, the “Golden Triangle of Art” where we will explore the magnificent El Prado; the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum which many art experts consider to be the world’s most important private collection, and the youngest of Madrid’s three cornerstones of art, the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía which is home to the 20th century’s most famous painting, Picasso’s "Guernica". Depending on your artistic taste any of the three might keep you spellbound for a full day.

A word of warning – the architecture outside can be as enthralling as the work inside so keep your camera handy. All the museums offer secured locked storage for your belongings during your visit.

The best way to savor all that Madrid has to offer is to go at your own pace. That is why we have designed this tour with your interests in mind. Take your time and change the route if you want. Spend two or three days exploring the world of art that awaits you in Madrid.

You can listen to all stories on the web but the best and most comprehensive experience includes GPS navigation and can be found at izi.TRAVEL app. Stop whenever you want and when you are ready to continue on your tour simply turn the app back on. Just as a reminder, each stop along the walk is indicated by the attraction name and number. The relevant section will be played automatically when you get to the stop but you always can play it manually.
