In the lesson we will record you stories using regular smartphone. The quality of these recording would not be great but quite suitable. Having external microphone for your PC would be the next good option.

Before recording make sure there is no echo in the room and no background noises.

If you made a mistake while recording – don’t stop. Repeat the sentence you faltered in. Later on you can cut off your mistake while editing.

To transfer your files from the phone you can use any method – send email from the phone or use special software like Dropbox that will synchronise your files on the phone and PC or connect your phone to the PC directly and copy files. As in the lesson we want to show the simplest way – we transfer files using email.

You can use any software for editing your recordings. On the market, there are several free applications available. One of popular ones is Audacity -//audacityteam.org.

There is one important audio editing effect you may wish to use – normalization. It is used to set the peak amplitude of a single track, make multiple tracks have the same peak amplitude and equalize the balance of left and right channels of stereo tracks. In other words, it allows you to make even volume for different audio tracks within one guide.
