Chugging Through Haverhill’s History is a self-guided audio tour of the Bradford Rail Trail created by Historic New England, in partnership with the Friends of the Bradford Rail Trail. Other local institutions, such as Creative Haverhill and the Special Collections section of Haverhill Public Library also, contributed to the project. The tour highlights the importance of the Merrimack River and the fascinating stories and tales that epitomize larger themes such as immigration, industry, and economics.

The Bradford Rail Trail is a path of about two-thirds of a mile running along the Merrimack River between the Basiliere and Comeau Bridges in the Bradford section of Haverhill, Massachusetts. In 2008, the city of Haverhill purchased an abandoned railroad bed from Pan Am Railways with a state grant and private donations. The trail officially opened in the spring of 2017.
