Black iguana

The Black iguana lives in the south of Mexico, Nicaragua, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Costa Rica, Panama and some of the surrounding islands. It is a semi-arboreal animal. It prefers to stay on the ground well heated by the sun. The colour is silver-gray, gray, or blue with splashes of red or dark orange. Many adults especially males have black chevrons. Males also have a high dorsal ridge. The body length is up to 60cm the tail is from 70 to 80cm. Males have territorial behavior. Up to 10 females can be noticed on the territory of the only male. They lay up to 30 eggs into a sandy soil. The incubation lasts for 90 days.
