Nestled between the Dun and the Saâne valleys , Luneray lies on a plateau .

Its name comes from a moond-shape antique enclosure, the Romans called it lunoe or Luna.

If you follow the little paths dispersed throughout the city, you will discover old farms, lots of beautiful brick houses, half-timbered houses, and some thatched cottage.

Some of this pathways will lead you to the Ronchay District. This is here that a cultivator discovered in 1827 the remains of incineration graves from the Gallo-Roman era. These graves date from the 1rst and the 2nd centuries. Some potteries, statuettes and vases remained buried here during 15 centuries.
